CHAMP Spikes at 2008 PGA Fall Expo

CHAMP Spikes today announced its presence in booth 745 at the 2008 PGA Fall Expo, August 25th through the 27th, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. CHAMP Spikes has teamed up with one of its biggest west coast distributors, AMA Golf Company and will display the extremely popular line of CHAMP ScorpionStinger™ Spikes.

CHAMP Spikes revamped the top-selling ScorpionStinger™ line in 2008 proving the best can get better. The top-selling men’s ScorpionStinger™ used exclusive material and technological advancements for a more supportive spike as the yellow traction legs are thicker, yet softer, for better cushioning and longer lasting performance. The black traction legs have been slightly elongated to help improve both traction and durability, while reducing clogging.

CHAMP also redesigned the Lady ScorpionStinger™ keeping the same tour-tested structure, but reducing the spike by 15% to better fit the soles of a lady’s shoe. The change eliminates over crowding and solidifies the Lady Scorpion Stinger™ as the only true women’s spike on the market. This spike has also undergone a compositional change, reducing the hardness with the same technologies as its male version making it more comfortable to wear.

Along with the Scorpion Stinger™ line, CHAMP representatives Marty Greenwald, National Sales Manager and Jessica Aversa, Marketing Manager will also be at booth 745 to answer any questions and explain the advanced traction technologies utilized in the different CHAMP Spikes models.

“This show is something CHAMP always looks forward to,” said Marty Greenwald, “The Mandalay Bay Convention Center provides a great atmosphere to interact with customers who you might not deal with on a day to day basis.”

Number One Brand Starts Off the New Year On Right Foot

Hot on the heels of a hugely successful Demo Day and PGA Show in Orlando, CHAMP Spikes earned two tour wins this past weekend. Celebrating victories half a world away CHAMP spikes stood in the winners circle at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters and at the Buick Invitational in San Diego.

At Torrey Pines, the number one golfer in the world started this year where he left off in 2006, in the winner’s circle. At the Buick, he sported CHAMP Cermec® spikes for the championship, his fifth overall Buick title and seventh straight PGA victory. He is now just four wins shy of tying the all-time consecutive wins record held by Byron Nelson. The victor began his charge to the front on the ninth hole with a 25 foot eagle putt and finished the pack off with a two foot birdie on the 17th hole. The CHAMP Cermec® is the ultimate in metal spike technology with a high abrasion and impact resistant ceramic ball fused to a hardened tool steel spike.

Across the globe, the world’s eighth ranked player, was also wearing CHAMP Spikes but he chose the Stinger™ for his unbelievable comeback in Qatar. The winner was two shots down with two holes remaining before pulling off a remarkable birdie, eagle finish for the title. At Qatar, CHAMP once again dominated the statistics, finishing with a majority of the field wearing their spikes as 43% of the golfers chose CHAMP. The next closest manufacturer had just 27% of the field.

“What a fantastic week,” said Harris MacNeill, President of CHAMP. “There was so much enthusiasm for our products at Demo Day and the PGA show. We were able to renew relationships and begin new ones with distributors and manufacturers and the two victories certainly capped off a wonderful show. Other companies claim to have the number one cleat but we have the number one brand because we provide golfers with more than one option.”

“You have the world’s number one ranked golfer wearing our traditional metal spikes, then one of the world’s top ten golfers, half a world away, wearing our Stinger, which is becoming one of the most recognized spikes in the world,” continued MacNeill. “That is what is so unique about our company. We don’t just make one or two styles of spikes. We are providing all types of spikes to all different types of golfers who have different needs and requirements.”

CHAMP and ECCO Announce New Partnership

CHAMP has added another partner to its growing list. When ECCO introduces its 2007 Golf collection of classic and casual men’s and women’s golf shoes, it will now also be available with CHAMP spikes.

In addition to the spikes, the two new ECCO product groups Women’s Casual Pitch and the Men’s Flexor Series will come equipped with CHAMP’s patented Q-LOK® system. Q-LOK is the industry’s quickest and easiest receptacle system to use. The spikes can be removed and replaced with just ¼ of a turn of the wrench.

CHAMP and ECCO are both known for their innovation, quality and comfort. CHAMP has long been thought of as the industry leader concerning the design and performance of golf spikes for golfers of all levels. Similarly, ECCO has that same reputation in the footwear industry. Both companies put design and high performance at the forefront of their core values.

“We saw this as a perfect match for both companies” said Harris MacNeill, president of CHAMP “ECCO has built a reputation for being an innovator in the use of advanced materials, high performance and styling. That’s how we see ourselves in the traction technology industry”

“We have great expectations for our new partnership with CHAMP.” said Henning Schlaikjer-Petersen, Division Manager, ECCO Golf “When it comes to styling, quality and durability, CHAMP and ECCO are a perfect match. That’s why we decided to team up with them. Their Q-LOK system is comfortable, and the spikes are easy and quick to change. Our customers have come to expect the best from our shoes, and they should get the same experience with their spikes.”

Both companies also share the distinction of longevity. CHAMP is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year, while ECCO celebrated their 40th in 2003.

Currently, CHAMP spikes and their Q-LOK system are original equipment in all Nike, Dexter, Hi-Tec and now ECCO shoes.

Champ Continues 75th Anniversary Celebration With Wins On Two Continents

CHAMP Spikes, the number one brand on tour, picked up another two wins this weekend with the PGA Canadian tour victory and the John Hammons LPGA Classic. CHAMP Spikes, which recently swept the 2006 “Grand Slam,” was also the spike of choice for the winner of the European Masters this time around.

The CHAMP Stinger™ wearing victor posted a 5-under 65 Sunday, finishing with a 14-under total to capture the Canadian Open crown — his second PGA TOUR title of the 2006 season. Over on the LPGA, the champ finished the 2006 John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic at 70 – 61 – 68 = 199 (-14) and defeated the Defending Champion by two strokes.

“It’s always satisfying to complete a weekend with another championship for CHAMP Spikes,” said Harris MacNeill, president of CHAMP. “This weekend is another example of how we became the number one spike on tour-by providing golfers different spikes for different terrains. This past weekend, the Deutsche Bank champion used our traditional Cermec spike and about half the field at the BMW Open utilized our top-selling Stinger spike.”

With these victories, CHAMP now owns 24 of 35 PGA TOUR titles, 14 of 21 on the European Tour and 12 of 21 on the LPGA in 2006, including the PGA “Grand Slam” as CHAMP swept all four majors.
